One of the branches of Christianity, a collection of numerous and independent churches and sects associated with their origins with the Reformation movement. Among the basic principles of Protestantism are the recognition of the exclusive authority of Holy Scripture, the equality of believers before God, the denial of the special divine authority of the clergy.

Protestants believe that the Bible is the Word of God himself. Scripture describes all the rules and regulations of Christianity, advice for a godly life with examples from the history of individuals and nations.

Christians, including Protestants, believe in a triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Dogma is central to the liturgical practice of many Christian churches and is the foundation of their teaching. The very concept of the Trinity appeared at the initial stage of the spread of Christianity throughout the world. This makes it easier to explain the nature of God: He is one, but manifests Himself in three persons.

Protestants believe that if a person believed not only in God, but also in the atoning sacrifice on the cross precisely for his sins, then this is the only way to be reconciled with God, to receive forgiveness and a new spiritual birth.

Five in total

We are talking about the five pillars of Protestant theology. Five Latin theses appeared during the Reformation and are its theological result as opposed to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church at that time. The range of the main views of Protestantism includes such concepts as «only according to Scripture» — following the prophetic and apostolic scriptures of the Old and New Testaments; “By faith alone” is the doctrine of justification by faith alone; «By grace alone» — the teaching that salvation is in grace; “Christ alone” is the only mediator between God and man; and «glory only to God» — a person should honor and worship only God.

Evangelism or Discipleship

This is a command according to which the Protestant believer must go to the ends of the earth, spreading his religion. Missionary work is actively developed among Protestants, because every believer wants to fulfill God’s commandment and convey to everyone that God loves and forgives them. Protestants spread their religion not only with words, but also with deeds done with love. They also believe that by fulfilling the gospel, they are bringing closer the coming of Christ — the apocalypse. When the last person hears the good news, the darkness will end and a new life will begin.
